Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

There is a tram that goes up part of Mt. San Jacinto. You pick up the tram at about 2000' elevation and it takes you up to 8500'. The tram's inner platform rotates on the journey up. It also sways and dips a bit as it pass from the cable, to the tower, to the cable again. It does not make for an entirely pleasant journey, esp. for those prone to motion sickness (Andrea, although she fared well by staying on the non-rotating part of the tram). Below are some of the pictures from around the visitor center at the top. The peak is still 1500' higher and 5.5 miles away.

I also hiked on Mt. San Jacinto for my very first backpacking trip back in 1998. It was a little bit of a shock to hike up all that ways and then see people walking around in their street clothes (including skirts and heels) up at the top.

On the road

After the tram, we had just 30 minutes to go to the Premium Outlets in Cabazon. We did a very quick tour of Nike, Escada, Gucci, Giorigio Armani, Max Mara, and Barney's (bought two shirts here). We only had time to just take a quick peek, but it's definiteley worth coming back to shop here.

Below are a couple shots of parts of the mountain ranges taken from the car on our return drive.
