Day 1: China Camp to Hidden Canyon Camp
Distance: 10 miles one way
Elevation: 4400' to 4750' to 2000'
Burn area from the fire a year ago (above). I didn't start until 1:00pm because I had to drive down, pick up an Adventure Pass along the way, drive 8 miles on a dirt road just to get to the trailhead.
This was the perfect time of year to catch the wildflowers. The temperature was quite hot, 90+ degrees - rough hiking carrying a pack. Fortuntately, it was mostly downhill although there was a fair amount of up and down.
The hills covered with flowers also generated an incredible fragrance!
