Matanzas Creek

After lunch at a little Italian cafe just down the street from Chateau St. Jean, we headed over to Matanzas Creek. We had last been to this winery in April. In the spring, the garden looked much nicer because now in the fall, it was very dry. We did a tasting here and tried the Sauvignon Blanc, Viogner, Chardonnay, Blanc de Blanc sparkling, and Merlot. I liked the Sauvignon Blanc (had some Semillon in it), but didn't want to spend $22 on a bottle of it because I'd recently been trying many different Sauvignon Blancs at only $12 and had a slight mental argument with spending that much for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (in retrospect, I wish I had purchased a bottle or two...). I also liked the Merlot, but didn't buy any because one, we were still going to go to Pride whose specialty is Merlot, and two, it was a bit pricier and more than I was willing to spend on a bottle of Merlot. I wanted to buy some more of the Sangiovese I bought in April, but they no longer had any.
