  S. Anderson Vineyard
We arrived at S. Anderson just in time for the 2:30pm tour of the wine cave. This was just pure luck because we didn't know what time the tour started when we headed over and they only have two tours a day. S. Anderson has a very impressive looking wine cave, big enough to house a small stage for concerts! We tasted two of their sparkling wines and their new premium Cabernet. I'm not a big fan of sparkling wine/champagne, but it's growing on me and enough so that I bought one bottle of their Brut. I really liked the S.A.V. Cabernet (new offering) and bought four bottles of that as well.

  Gloria Ferrer Vineyard
Earlier this year, I bought a case+ of Gloria Ferrer's 1997 Chardonnay at Costo. This was a spectacular bargain and I was hoping to buy more. Of course, as I always learn, anything that receives a good review is almost certain to be out, esp. this late in the year. It was the same here. I tasted the 1998 and the 1995 Chardonnays, but was not particularly impressed. The 1998 seemed a bit watery and simple. The 1995 seemed significantly more complex, but a bit too acidic for me. Lesli bought a glass of the Royal Cuvee which she liked. I found it simple, inoffensive, drinkable. I didn't buy anything here.
