Mt. Tam: Mtn. Home Inn to Mt. Tam via Fern Creek Trail

Distance: 4.7 miles roundtrip
Elevation: 800' to 2571'

This is my old standy hike. The sign said that the trail was closed due to hazardous conditions, which ,of course, didn't stop me. Actually, the trail had been maintained recently and was in as good a condition as I had ever seen it.

The temperature was just right (50s, but quite foggy), my legs, lungs, and heart felt strong, and I had a lot of energy (must have been the pasta I had for dinner). I hiked at a very brisk pace and smashed my previous best time (52 minutes) to the top by reaching the top in only 46 minutes!!

Everything was foggy at the top and just a bit too chilly to just hang out for too long. When I left, the sun was just starting to poke out on the east side of the peak. I ran back down and made it back in about 25 minutes although my left knee (old hiking injury) was aching. My whole roundtrip hike only took 90 minutes and I was back at my car by 10:30!
