It was the week of our anniversary and we were trying to come up with something to do. In the end, my coworker Michael, generously loaned us his cabin just outside of Truckee. We drove up on Friday afternoon/evening and had a great dinner and some jazz at Moody's. Andrea had some tasty heirloom tomatoes (some of the best we've ever had) and house made lobster ravioli I had the ahi 4-ways to start (very fresh) and the venison (tasty). The food and the jazz made for a very enjoyable evening.
The next day, we slept in and went for a hike at Loch Leven Lakes. We chose this because we were hoping for something scenic, but not too crowded. This trail starts at 5680' elevation and climbs a bit over 1000'. We aren't in our best hiking condition and unaccustomed to altitude so it was a fairly challenging hike for us.
